Yu: Sichuan Simplicity

Yu Sichuan

One night I gave hubby the task of selecting a restaurant for dinner, with spicy food being the only requirement.  After some research (aka openrice), he came back suggesting a Sichuan restaurant in Causeway Bay, Yu (渝酸辣粉), and I got to say, he made me proud.

This small Sichuan restaurant serves mala dishes that will satisfy anyone’s craving for spicy food.   My favorites were the 2 noodles dishes, their popular Dan Dan Noodles and classic Chongqing Hot & Sour Potato Noodles.  The slippery and chewy texture of the potato noodles kept me going back for more.

Not that I’m complaining, but the taste profile of all the dishes we tried were uncanningly similar.  I guess it was because they were all drenched in their ridiculously good and numbing spicy oil.

A strong word of advice:  do order a glass of the Cucumber Soya Milk to help cool off the numbness in your tongue.

Next time I crave for some simple Sichuan food, I know where I’m going.
