Bloody Caesar Cocktail

Bloody Caesar Cocktail

For those non-Canadian’s out there that have no idea what a Bloody Caesar is (also referred to a Caesar), its simply a Bloody Mary with the tomato juice replaced with Clamato juice (clam and tomato juice).

The non-alcoholic version of the Caesar, the Virgin Caesar, has always been my favorite drink.  So you could understand my disappointment when I couldn’t find this cocktail in Hong Kong.  Yes, I know it’s very similar to it’s sister drink, the Bloody Mary, but believe me when I say the Caesar is SO much better.

Fortunately for me, you can buy Clamato juice in some HK supermarkets (I got mine at Market Place), so I am able to satisfy my Virgin Caesar craving at home.  This drink is great for anytime of day and some even say it can help cure hangover’s!

Bloody Caesar

4 oz Clamato Juice (~125mL)
1-2 tsp celery salt
2 lime wedges
stalk of celery
1 oz vodka (30 mL)*
2 dahses Tabasco sauce
3 dashes salt & pepper
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
ice cubes

Salt the rim of a glass with celery salt.   You can do this by first spreading the celery salt on a plate and then rub the juice of a lime wedge on the rim of the glass, then invert the glass onto the plate of celery salt.

Fill the glass half full of ice cubes, then top up with Clamato juice.

Add vodka*, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. Stir. Garnish with a lemon wedge and celery.

*For a Virgin Bloody Caesar omit the vodka
