Chinese Steamed Spareribs with Black Bean Sauce
Serves 2
500g spareribs
1 1/2 tbsp fermented black beans
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cornstarch
red chili, thinly sliced (optional)
Rinse and dry the spareribs with paper towels.
Rinse the black beans, and lightly mash with a back of a spoon.
Mix the light soy, sugar, cornstarch, black beans and garlic with the spareribs and marinade for 30 minutes in a shallow plate.
Place a steam rack into a wok and add water (the water level should be just below the rack). Cover the wok and boil on high heat.
Once the water boils, add the red chilis to the spareribs and place the plate onto the rack. Cover and steam on high for 15-20 minutes.
Serve.
This looks perfect, I honestly couldn’t fault the recipe! I don’t eat enough black beans!
